School House Marketing Interns: Summer 2012
Start Date: Late May/Early June (flexible depending on prior commitments, etc.)

The company is seeking two (2) part-time interns (20 hrs/week) to support the work of the Marketing & PR Director throughout the summer term. Interns will function as employees within our organization, and should expect to be exposed to larger projects in addition to day-to-day work such as running errands, answering the phone, compiling spreadsheets, etc. Interns are routinely asked to take ownership of substantive projects. Past interns have conducted market research, lead social media efforts, put together spec packs, assisted with fashion design responsibilities and conducted sales meetings. Our internships are what you make of them.
The Marketing intern will be responsible for the content and management of our social media channels including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Email Marketing. Additionally, the intern will be asked to assist the Marketing Director with:
Building and maintaining our Press Kit; sending media kits and product samples to reporters, bloggers, and celebrities
Helping secure speaking engagements for Rachel Weeks; sending bios, pictures and other information upon request
Sending press mentions to School House clients and buyers; using social media to spread buzz on School House features
Fulfilling e-commerce orders in addition to regularly updating and monitoring our website, www.shopschoolhouse.com
Monitoring engagement on social media; using social media marketing tools (HootSuite) to post relevant content and monitor effectiveness
Assisting at local and national events; helping with giveaways, contests and School House partnerships
Being a good steward for the brand; responding to customer service comments/requests, researching local University opportunities and identifying new opportunities for School House
Skills: Excellent communication skills, organized, self-starter, hard worker, ability to manage time efficiently and juggle multiple tasks. Ability to demonstrate professionalism and enthusiasm for the brand in customer/buyer interactions.
Must be adept in Microsoft Office suite, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Must have social media savvy and be familiar with basic SEO concepts.
A journalism background/major and/or previous fashion marketing and PR experience is a plus.

School House Product Management Interns: Summer 2012
Start Date: Late May/Early June (flexible depending on prior commitments, etc.)
Application Deadline: March 15th, 2012
The company is seeking two (2) full-time interns to support the work of the Chief Operations Officer. Interns should be prepared and willing to work hands-on with our factory partners in production of our garments and participate in the quality control process in addition to other necessary day-to-day work involved in bringing our products from concept to completion. This is a unique opportunity for any student interested in gaining first-hand experience in taking a product from technical specification to customer delivery, especially those interested in careers in production, operations and product management. The more initiative demonstrated, the greater responsibilities you will gain at School House – our internships are what you make of them.
Day-to-day tasks will include:
Assigning bar codes to new products, submitting artwork for licensing approvals
Organizing fabric and trim library for the company
Reviewing technical specifications prior to production for accuracy
Scheduling delivery pick-ups for transportation of raw materials
“Running” product across locations in the factory to next steps in production
Reviewing current production/packing processes and making suggestions for efficiency improvements
Depending on intern’s experience, ability, and interest, special projects may include:
Researching trends and new university markets
Developing marketing strategies and promotional concepts
Event-planning for brand launches at various schools
Identifying new sales opportunities
Researching socially-responsible/environmentally-friendly suppliers
Skills: Excellent communication skills, organized, self-starter, hard worker, ability to manage time efficiently and juggle multiple tasks, ability to demonstrate professionalism and enthusiasm for brand in customer/buyer interactions. Must be adept in Microsoft Office suite, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
